We had a wonderful weekend visit with my best friend Dawn. We needed one last summer getaway before school started. It was a long ride (about 8 1/2 hrs each way) and Nathaniel fussed about 1/8 of the way there (and back). However, Nathaniel LOVED the beach and the sandbox and the paint easel. Guess I need to get my act together and clean our art easel, get David to build a sandbox and visit the beach more often!!! Kate had a blast with both Annabelle and JP. She love surfing with the body board with JP and hanging out with Annabelle. Those 2 girls are so much alike. I have more pictures that I will load.
Also, I went to the pediatrician yesterday w/ Nathaniel (pulling at ears but no ear infection thank goodness!). I had asked her about the MMR and the Rubella component originating from an aborted fetus (hence, the religious exemption for vaccines). She said that she did not think it was true b/c think of all the Catholics and such that get vaccinated and they have no problems... Well, she said that she would talk to the company to reassure me that no aborted fetus's were used. Guess what??? She said "You were right. The vaccine originates from an aborted fetus." How many times does the dr. tell you that YOU ARE RIGHT.... Anyway, I mentioned getting off the state registry and she said "you can do that??" I said yep, I took my kids off the state vaccination registry. I don't think many know that the government tracks your kids and the shots that they get. (or maybe I watched too many X Files episodes and it makes me nervous). So, I can continue on my own little schedule and try to safely as possible vax my little guy... I wish I had known all this when Kate was little - I asked one question and her ped said that if I didn't vax he would "fire" us. (That was before the penny incident.....)
